"In Venezuela, mixed-breed dogs are called CACRI. Street dog. Mixed. No pedigree. It survives everything because it owes nothing to anyone."
CACRI is not a content series. It is not marketing. It is not the behind-the-scenes of an album.
It is the portrait of an artist that everyone knew. And that almost no one knew who he was.
Venezuelan without Venezuela. American without fully being American. Latino without fitting into the box of Latino.
Like a CACRI.

What never breaks
CACRI is not limited to Venezuelans. The image of the mixed street dog that survives everything is universal. After that line — everyone understands it. And embraces it.

By Mr. Pauer — A González from the Coast
I am a CACRI. I don't come from a conservatory or a pedigree. I come from the salt of Margarita and the heat of the asphalt. Like the street dog that survives on instinct, my music is a survivor's craft. I wasn't taught by books. I was raised by the vibration of the air.
I play by ear because the heart doesn't read sheet music. My knowledge is from the street. Empirical. Raw. Rhythmic. I don't need a map to find the beat. I follow the sound until it feels like home. If it makes the soul move — it is true.
My skin is white. My surname is González. But my DNA is everything at once. I am the living proof of Mestizaje. I defend Africanity because its drum is my heartbeat. You don't need to be Black to love the root. You only need to be human enough to feel it.
My music doesn't explain itself. It moves. It is the digital parranda. The ancestral flute meeting the electronic bass. The mountain shaking hands with the machine. I take the raw of the street and turn it into a global anthem. This is not fusion. This is evolution.
A CACRI never forgets where he found his first bone. Whether I am in Miami, Puerto La Cruz, or Margarita — the island never left. I am a sailor of the world. But a local of the rhythm. Always.
I am many things. I am mixed. I am loud. I don't ask for permission. I don't wait for validation. I don't explain what I am. I just show up. And I play. Because the beat doesn't need a passport. And the drum doesn't need a last name.
I am a González. I am a CACRI. I was raised by the island, forged by the tropics, lost in Alabama, found in Wynwood, and built — one beat at a time — by every sound I refused to forget. This is not a biography. This is a frequency. And once you tune in, you'll wonder how you lived without it. It was made for you.

"I am like a CACRI." · 30-45 sec · Interior kitchen. Early morning.
Hook: Twenty years in the spotlight. This is everything they didn't see.
Script: In Venezuela, mixed-breed dogs are called cacri. Streetwise. Mixed. No pedigree. They survive anything because they owe nothing to anyone. I am Mr. Pauer, just like a CACRI.
Shooting List: Your hands brushing dust off a drum. Macro. Slow. The first shot of the whole series. Your face. First time on screen. No talking. Just present. Almost a smile.
Caption: In Venezuela, mixed-breed dogs are called cacri. I am Mr. Pauer. And this is my story. #mrpauer #cacri #ancestral #electropico #latinelectronic #djproducer #venezuelan #miami
"I come from the salt of Margarita and the heat of the asphalt." · Song: Cacao Azúcar Tambor — Betsayda Machado · 45-60 sec · Green yard with a tree. Golden hour.
Shooting List: Ferry on the sea or moving water. Or your hands holding a seashell. Macro. Green yard. Wide shot. Sky visible. Close-up of fried fish if you can cook it that day. Old photos if you have them: beach, hammock, family. Kite in the air if possible.
Script: I am the fifth of six siblings. Or maybe seven. Depending on the family secrets yet to be revealed. I was born in Venezuela to parents from Margarita. That meant taking the ferry. Talking very fast. Learning how to fish. Spending every vacation at the beach. Sleeping in a hammock. I also got used to the smell of plagatox. To galerones mixed with Billos Caracas Boys. To collecting seashells. To flying kites. And to eating fried fish. Without fear of the bones.

"I was raised by the vibration of the air." · Song: Se Me Sale lo Malo · 45-60 sec · Music studio.
Shooting List: Your left hand writing. Ugly handwriting. Ink-stained fist. Macro. Notebook with stained pages. Ping-pong paddle if you have one. Your hands on the drums in the studio. Your face at the end. Completely serious.
Script: I am the tallest and the only left-handed person in my family. According to my psychologist, lefties are destined to break generational patterns. Being left-handed meant having handwriting so terrible that even I couldn't decipher it. And staining all my notebooks with the side of my hand as I wrote. However, being left-handed also has its advantages. It led me to become a ping-pong champion. The only sports trophy I have ever won in my life. In Venezuela, there was a popular belief that left-handed people are smarter. More creative. And I believed every word.
Caption: The only sports trophy I have ever won is for ping-pong. The rest is history. #mrpauer #cacri #zurdo #venezuela #ancestral #electropico #latinelectronic #drummer
"A CACRI never forgets where he found his first bone." · Song: Malembe — Martina Camargo · 60-75 sec · Interior kitchen. 7am-9am. Natural light.
Shooting List: Boiling water. Macro of the steam. The first shot. Don't move it. Your hands making carbonara. Each step real. The yolks. The cheese. The water. The finished plate. Simple. No decoration. A cat if one appears. Don't move it. Let it be. The empty kitchen at the end.
Script: Since I was a child, I hated celebrating my birthday. And my mom understood that. She would make me a special lunch. Pasta carbonara. A recipe she learned from TV. There were no guests. No candles. No cake. No happy birthday songs. Just my mom and me. That is how I discovered how to express love through cooking.
Caption: There was no cake. No candles. Just my mom and me. #mrpauer #cacri #mom #cooking #carbonara #venezuela #ancestral #electropico
"I follow the sound until it feels like home." · Song: Rikiti — Maffio · 60-75 sec · Green yard with a tree. Golden hour.
Shooting List: Green yard. You walking or sitting. Something that feels like arrival. A boom box or old radio if you have one. Close-up. Photos from that time if you have them. Your hands holding something from that era.
Script: When I was six, we immigrated to the United States. During Venezuela's oil boom. My family decided to move into a mansion in Mountain Brook, Alabama. At school, all the kids fell into two categories. Very white. Or very Black. We, the Gonzálezes, were the only Latinos. With our very white skin and black hair. That first winter my dad gave me a mini boom box. I discovered the music of Men at Work. And Menudo. And that's how my passion for music was born.
Caption: Very white or very Black. We were the only Latinos. With white skin and black hair. #mrpauer #cacri #immigrant #venezuela #alabama #ancestral #latinelectronic #electropico
"My knowledge is de la calle. Empirical. Raw. Rhythmic." · Song: Bate Batuque Batuqueiro — Nonô · 60-75 sec · Music studio.
Shooting List: The drums. Wide shot first. Alone. Without you yet. Your hands taking the sticks. Macro. Playing. Real. The sound filling the room. A cooking pot. Close-up. The reference to Animal. Your face at the end. A slight smile.
Script: My passion for drums was born watching television. I was a super fan of Animal, the Muppets drummer. I started however I could: the lids and pots in my mom's kitchen. My dad eventually gave in and bought me a Yamaha electronic drum kit. Reluctantly. Obviously, it was something he would regret for the rest of his life. Back in Venezuela I formed my first rock band with the neighbors from the building. Los Coyotes. Believe it or not, I dressed in black and wanted to be like Tommy Lee from Mötley Crüe. I only dreamed of being a rock star.
Caption: I wanted to be Tommy Lee from Mötley Crüe. I started by playing my mom's pots and pans. Both things are true. #mrpauer #cacri #drummer #animal #muppets #venezuela #electropico #ancestral
"I take the raw of the street and turn it into a global anthem." · Song: Sube la Vibra — Tostao/ChocQuibTown · 75-90 sec · Outdoor kitchen. Real fire. Golden hour.
Shooting List: Fire lighting up. Macro. The first shot. Colorful food cooking: arepa, something tropical. Hands cutting different ingredients. The variety. Your face over the fire. Steam around you. The black leather jacket if you still have it. One shot. Alone.
Script: Puerto La Cruz, a tropical oil city with blistering temperatures of 95 degrees Fahrenheit, had become a cultural epicenter, invaded by American, European, and Arab immigrants. This influx brought with it a unique privilege: satellite dishes, which opened the doors to MTV and a wide range of international music. One day I could be eating an arepa, the next a shawarma, Italian pasta, Chinese rice, or an authentic Spanish paella. This diversity left an indelible mark on my versatility. Navigating the social scene as a shaggy rocker in a black leather jacket in a tropical city led me to make a drastic decision: become a tropical rocker. Learn how to dance merengue and salsa. Essential skills for surviving. And flirting.
Caption: Black leather jacket. Tropical city. 95 degrees. It wasn't easy. #mrpauer #cacri #puertolacruz #venezuela #rockero #electropico #tropical #ancestral
"The island never left." · Song: Everything Starts in Africa — Daymé Arocena · 60-75 sec · Interior kitchen. 7am-9am. Natural light.
Shooting List: The kitchen in silence. Soft light. No one there yet. The first shot. Your hands cooking. Slow. Deliberate. The finished dish. Just the food. Leave it on screen longer than feels comfortable. Your hands resting on the table. The empty kitchen at the end.
Script: When I was 17, my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. It was heartbreaking to witness her decline. In her final months, it was an honor to care for her and prepare her favorite dishes. It was my way of connecting with her and expressing my love and gratitude. After she passed away, I packed my things and returned to the United States for college. My dad wanted me to study business administration. But without his knowledge, I had other plans. My dream was to become a rock star.
Caption: I cooked for her until the end. It was the only way I knew how to tell her how I felt. #mrpauer #cacri #mom #cooking #venezuela #ancestral #electropico #latinelectronic
"I don't ask for permission. I don't wait for validation." · Song: Mango Bajito — Jessie Boykins III · 60-75 sec · Music studio. Computer visible.
Shooting List: Your computer. Design work on screen. Your hands on the keyboard. Old album covers or graphic work if you have it. The studio. Design and music in the same frame. Your face. Deadpan. No remorse.
Script: I was always the black sheep of the family. My dad's headache. He thought I was in Miami studying business administration. But after a year I had to confess the truth. I had enrolled in Graphic Design because it was the major that would give me the skills to create my album covers and concert posters. My dad never agreed with me about anything. But in the end he helped me reluctantly. Following my intuition turned out to be the best decision I could have made. Design became my way of living.
Caption: My dad thought I was studying business administration. It was graphic design. I needed to know how to design my covers. Obviously. #mrpauer #cacri #design #miami #venezuela #electropico #ancestral #djproducer
"I just show up. And I play." · Song: Peligro — Los Rakas · 60-75 sec · Music studio. Decks visible.
Shooting List: The decks. Close-up. Alone. The first shot. Your hands on the decks. Then on the drums. The full studio. Everything visible. Wynwood if you can go one day. A single shot of the neighborhood.
Script: My entry into the world of DJing was pure necessity. Before becoming a DJ producer in 2001, I was a drummer and had a rock band called Sóniko. My neighbor Jaime knew the owner of Two Last Shoes, a bar in Wynwood that would later become the iconic Electric Pickle. The owner let us rehearse on the second floor, but in exchange we had to organize a party. We organized a rock party fusing sounds in Spanish and English, mixing Nirvana with the rhythms of Fabulosos Cadillacs. That's how Mr. Pauer was born as a DJ. And Fabrika. One of the most influential music parties and digital portals of the era.
Caption: I became a DJ to get a rehearsal space. Nirvana and Fabulosos Cadillacs. That's how it all started. #mrpauer #cacri #wynwood #miami #electricpickle #djproducer #electropico #ancestral
"This is not fusion. This is evolution." · Song: Ni Loca — Letón Pe, Gina Chavez · 60-75 sec · Music studio. Synth and drums in the same frame.
Shooting List: The synthesizer and a drum in the same frame. The first shot. Hands on the synth. Then hands on the drum. The full studio. Everything visible. Your face at the end. The quietest moment of the whole series.
Script: After years of playing in various bands and composing rock, I decided to venture into a solo project with an electronic sound. But I didn't imagine that my experience as an immigrant and having been born in a tropical city would leave such a deep mark on my music. Despite my attempts to make electronic music in the German style, a tropical touch always slipped in. At first I rejected it and struggled against it. But in the end I gave in and accepted it. That is my essence. Mr. Pauer. A mix of cultures, flavors, rhythms, and sounds. I am color. I am light.
Caption: I tried to make German techno. The tropical kept slipping in. In the end, I gave in. That surrender is called Electropico. #mrpauer #cacri #electropico #tropical #latinelectronic #djproducer #venezuela #miami
"My DNA is everything at once." · Song: ANCESTRAL — Full preview 30 sec · 75-90 sec · Studio + green yard. Both spaces.
Shooting List: Your hands opening a box. Taking out a drum. Brushing off the dust. 15 seconds. No words. The first shot. The full drum collection. Wide shot. Hands on each instrument: Cumaco. Alegre. Tambora. Andean bass drum. Marimba. One by one. You sit in front of the biggest drum. The camera slowly moves toward your face. You close your eyes. One hit. Clean. Alone. Then total silence.
Script: I am white, Black, Indigenous. And proudly mixed-race. These are my roots. And in my music I honor my heritage. Cumaco. Culo e' puya. Alegre. Cununo. Maracón. Quitiplá. Tambora. Gaita. Andean bass drum. Timbau. Chékere. Güira. Surdo. Marimba. Fused with electric drums and synthesizers. That's what I am. That's ANCESTRAL.

ANCESTRAL is a celebration of African heritage in Latin America from its most luminous side: the music, the tradition, the color, and the joy that lives in our rhythms. It does not seek to explain or defend, but to honor and amplify that energy that continues to transform over time.
